The Hamikra'a Sheli series contains six readers (two of which appear also in a Revised format). Each Hamikra'a Sheli contains literary works (stories, fables, and poems) in progressive levels to match the student’s degree of Hebrew language proficiency and maturity.

In addition to various age-appropriate educational topics, the first four parts in the series include also literature structured around the Jewish calendar.

Each volume contains illustrations and a wide array of learning activities (e.g., comprehension questions, exercises in oral and written expression, grammar drills, etc.) The Hamikra'a Sheli is suitable for Grades 1 students who have learned Hebrew reading (starts around Chanukah).
